My name is Laura Aguirre. I was born and raised in Chihuahua City, Mexico. Growing up my favorite activities included playing basketball and participating in track and field events such as the Javelin thrown and shot put. I graduated from the UACH (Universidad Autonoma de Chihuahua) with a bachelor’s degree in Education in 1985. I taught grade school in both Chihuahua city and Juarez where my love for teaching children and being responsible for their development grew. In 2001 my family and I migrated to El Paso, TX, where I have enjoyed being in a new cultural and meeting new people. My
passion for the development of children’s education brought me to Peace Lutheran in 2015 where I am proud to be a part of this community and being surrounding by amazing people that truly care about
My name is Silvia Gutierrez, I am the teacher assistant for the infant and toddler classes this school year. This is my thirteenth year working at this wonderful school. I’ve been fortunate to work with various ages from infants to the after school program with the elementary students during the time that I’ve worked here.
I’ve always enjoyed helping others and watching the children learn and grow. Being able to be part of a child’s life and making a positive impact is truly an amazing feeling.
When I’m not teaching, I enjoy walking, reading, and cooking. I grew up in Southern California and have a son and a daughter. They are my heart and my strength. I have decided to make early learning my life’s work because I believe a child’s education is the most valuable thing in the world.
With that being said I look forward to a wonderful school year working and growing with your child!
